oh my god
In “oh my god” over 500 home stereo speakers are stacked into a 50 foot long by 8 foot tall wall. As the viewer enters the gallery and walks the length of these stacked speakers, sporadic utterances of the phrase “oh my god” are randomly heard. These audio clips sampled from news programs, tv shows, movies, and youtube cover the entire range of emotions from ecstasy to terror, that this one single ambiguous phrase can evoke. With the intervals between the exclamations of “oh my god” growing closer and closer and overlapping, the 6 minute audio piece eventually builds to a crescendo and then falls deafly silent. Video
